There's a paan shop outside my office - a little stall that sells cigarettes, chips, chai, the works. An old couple runs the shop - they are probably in their 70s. A couple of days ago, one of my colleagues asked for a cigarette, and the old lady handed it to him and said, "Yeh lo, beta." which roughly translates to "Here you go, son."
I just thought the phraseology was... ironic.
